Serve Together. Make a Difference in Kansas City.

Street Support KC partners with churches, companies, schools, Girl Scout troops, and community groups across Kansas City who want to serve people experiencing homelessness in practical ways. While our street outreach events are volunteer-led, many groups ask how they can help on their own time.

The good news is there are several high-impact projects your group can do that directly support our outreach efforts and the people we serve.

Ways Your Group Can Support Street Support KC

Group volunteer projects are a powerful way to build teamwork while helping neighbors in need. Many of the items we distribute each month come from group-led drives and service projects. These efforts allow us to stretch our budget, maintain supply levels, and consistently show up for the homeless community in Kansas City.

Here are some of the most helpful group volunteer activities:

Hygiene Kit Assembly
Groups can collect and assemble hygiene kits with items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, wipes, socks, and hand sanitizer. These kits are one of our most requested and distributed resources.

Clothing Drives
Organize a clothing drive for new or gently used items such as socks, underwear, coats, hoodies, gloves, and hats. Seasonal items are especially helpful during extreme heat or cold.

Blanket or Winter Gear Projects
Groups can purchase or make blankets, or run drives for sleeping bags, hand warmers, and winter gear. Cold-weather supplies make a major difference for people living outside.

Snack or Care Package Kits
Assemble small care packages with non-perishable snacks, water, and easy-to-carry items that can be handed out during outreach.

Donation Drives
Many groups choose to raise funds or purchase bulk items from our Amazon Wishlist so we can buy the highest-need supplies.

We’re happy to provide guidance on what items are most needed and how to make your project as impactful as possible. If your group wants to support Street Support KC, reach out to coordinate your project and delivery. Your effort helps us serve more people and bring practical support to those experiencing homelessness in Kansas City.
