Who We Are

Street Support KC is a Kansas City–based 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness through consistent, hands-on outreach.

On the first Saturday of each month, our volunteers meet people where they are and distribute critical items like food, clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, and hygiene supplies.

More than just meeting physical needs, we aim to show dignity, respect, and human connection to every person we serve.

Founder Story

Street Support KC started in 2023 with something simple.

After living in downtown Kansas City, I began noticing more and more people experiencing homelessness—many of whom were clearly in need of basic essentials and human connection. It was hard to ignore, and even harder to walk past without doing something.

I started small, handing out socks and drawstring backpacks to a handful of people on the street. There was no formal plan—just a desire to help in a direct, personal way.

What began as a few small interactions quickly grew. Others wanted to get involved. Donations started coming in. And over time, those one-on-one moments turned into something much bigger.

Today, Street Support KC organizes monthly outreach events with more than 40 volunteers, serving over 100 individuals each month with food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and other essential items.

Even as we’ve grown, the mission has stayed the same: show up consistently, meet people where they are, and treat every person with dignity, respect, and care.

How We Operate

Street Support KC is built on one simple idea: show up and help.

On the first Saturday of each month, we bring volunteers together in downtown Kansas City to meet people where they are—no barriers, no requirements, just direct support.

Each month, 40+ volunteers serve over 100 individuals by distributing:

  • Food

  • Clothing

  • Hygiene supplies

  • Blankets and sleeping bags

  • Other essential items

We also partner with local organizations to provide additional support like basic medical care, harm reduction resources, and food distribution.

By showing up consistently, we’re able to build trust, form real relationships, and create a sense of community with the people we serve.

Matthew founded Street Support KC in 2023 and leads the organization’s outreach efforts, partnerships, and overall mission.

Cathy supports the organization’s operations and helps ensure outreach efforts run smoothly, bringing a strong commitment to serving others and supporting the local community.

Mike plays a key role in organizational oversight and coordination, helping maintain structure and consistency as Street Support KC continues to grow.

Our Executive Director Matthew Entringer was honored with the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat by the Kansas City Royals in May 2026.
